Thanked: 0Greetings from Southeastern PA, USA
Hello to all!
#My strop is the one thing I'm looking to upgrade. Any recommendations for a long-lasting 3" stop that won't break the bank are welcome!
#Any meet-ups that happen interest me. If there are any that happen, feel free to mention!
edit: I'm plugged into the PA Group now, thanks!
Got into straight razor shaving about 9+ months ago because the 5-bladed head cartridges were costing an arm and a leg. Also, I had shaving bumps on my neck for years. Now I wet shave with a straight edge and no more bumps, and no more $20 packs of shaving heads. My whole beginner's setup cost about $50- strop, razor, brush, brush-holder, bowl, soap cake.
I have my best results not using hot water on my face. I just use something between room temp and body temp water.
I build my lather in a bowl and am currently using a soap cake, but am planning on switching to cream for lather-portion control purposes.Last edited by follicleharvester; 12-05-2013 at 04:07 PM.

G'Day and welcome to SRP.
IIRC there is a sub-forum on stropping - that might be a good place to get others opinions on different strops.
Personally, I haven't been afflicted by Strop Aquisition Disorder so can't really give you a good direction to go.
Let us know how things are going.Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Hi and welcome. Try SRD9many to choose from and great quality) or star shaving(think is less expensive). Both have replacement part available. Good luck. Ed

Thanked: 983An SRD modular might be the go for you, but I don't know what they're like having only ever bought one strop in my life, before making my own ad finding it better.
And as a fellow cold water shaver, I think you are on to a good thing there.

I use my SRD modular paddle strip daily and love it. Very versatile and easy to use. We'll worth the investment and highly recommended.

By the way, I live right on the NJ PA border near New Hope. If you are close to that, you are welcome to try my strops out. I have a modular paddle as well as another 3 inch SRD and a 2 inch Dovo.
