Default New Member, Glad to be here.

Hello, I am called Allenso. I am a middle aged male, U.S. Army Veteran (82nd Abn.Div.) interested in all outdoor activities and an avid reader. I reside in So. Calif. and have for most of my life.
I have wanted to try "real shaving" for a long time but never got around to it. The other day I went to buy some replacement blades for my Gillette Mach 3 Pro and they wanted $16.00 for a pack of 6. No Way!! So here I am.

I am looking forward to learning and enjoying the new(old )way to shave.

    Bye.

Welcome to SRP. Ask as many questions as you can come up with and you will get a lot of great answers.

Be warned though, this can become a very addicting endeavor.

Welcome to the forum! Everyone here has been so helpful on my journey into wet shaving. Don't be afraid to ask questions and search the forum for other things your interested in. The Wiki has a ton of information as well. So much great info on this site, even better people. Even got my Dad to start shaving with a straight and join the forum. This is after he called me crazy for buying a straight razor I might add. Not so crazy after all.

As mentioned, it can be a very addicting hobby to pick up. It has been for me but I enjoy it and it keeps me busy when I have free time.

    Regards,
    Zac

Hi. Also a new member. Middle-aged male, live on the east coast. Got into straight shaving a couple of years ago for the same reason; the cost of replaceable cartridges for my fusion. Have a question: just came into possession of an old straight razor and was wondering if anyone might know the history. The blade is stamped B.J. Eyre&co. Germany on the tang. Nothing else. The scales appear to be celluloid. The blade is in good condition with no noticeable defects. I'm interested in how old this thing might be. I place it in the latter part of the 19th century, or very early 20th century.

    Welcome aboard
Wet shaving is something I enjoy and I have no regrets from leaving the cartridges behind.
I viewed it as an adventure when I started as I wanted to work into all aspects of the sport.
As noted above a ton of information and great folks here.

    Regards
    Pat
