in my experience if the razor needs stropping part way through the shave (usually 3 full passes for me) it is in need of a touch up and to be honest is a razor fails me doing a shave I simply switch to a different razor instead of stropping and continuing.
and as long as you don't chip that razor your grandkids should still have plenty of blade left to shave with.
jimBe just and fear not.

Thanked: 0It was chipped when I got it. She had a pretty specific reason, saying something about a crown or broad spot between the bevel and the vertical portion of the blade that was just about honed away, leaving a shape more likely to hack a face open. It also wasn't like an imminent destruction sort of thing, more like a, 'if you want to hand this down to your kids, limit its usage.' It made sense at the time.
Either way, thanks for the advice. I'm reasonably certain I'm going to stick with it. I already prefer straight shaving to disposable, nicks and all. I don't really expect my results to get worse with experience.
