Hi from Belgium
Hi people,
My name is Yves, I'm a 32 year old guy from Belgium.
I've bought myself a strait razor for Christmas, a bit stupid because it's in a gift under the tree and I can't use it yet.
Since I still have some questions, I started looking on the internet and found my way here.
And of course, registering and joining the forum .
Now it's just countdown till next week...

Hi and welcome.
Haha what a foolish thing to do, how can you stand it? Just kidding, good that you have some self control.
It will be a lot of fun, good luck and merry Christmas.

Hahaha,
I don't have selfcontrol.
The razor is in my brothers house. I forgot to mention it, I've bought a Dovo Silversteel ebon hold.
To be honest I cheated a bit, I took out my shaving cream and brush, so I can use them now
No more pre-made shaving cream for me.
At the moment the one thing I'm most afraid of, isn't cutting myself with the razor, but doing something wrong so I ruin the blade...

Hi and welcome. There's lots if info in the library for starting out. Is the razor been honed to shave ready if not you will need to get this done. Now the real question. Will you get a chance to shave on Christmas day. Good luck and any questions just ask. Ed

Just take everything slow and steady, don't loose focus on what you are doing and you will hopefully do fine, although accidents always can happen.
Strop carefully and pull the strop tight (if hanging, and not a paddle), strop with the spine always in contact. Watch out to bump the edge into the sink/faucet/whatever.

Hi and welcome, it's probably a good thing that you got the soap and brush out now, it will take a few goes to get lathering right, so if you have that under control before you start using your straight it is one less variable to consider.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Welcome to SRP!
Sounds like a nice present. I trust you had the forethought to have it professionally honed. the factory edges are not often the best.
enjoy,
jimBe just and fear not.

I bought the razor in a shop and they honed it for me.
Sometimes I feel normal.
Then it's time to lay down and wait for it to pass.
