Hello from Texas!
Greetings!
I have been looking through the posts here for a while, and finally decided to join. I have been thinking for several months about getting into straight razor shaving, so this will bring me one step closer! I found this sight after watching videos that Lynn posted on you tube about straight razor shaving and care. I collect knives and enjoy tinkering with them, so keeping up with the razors will be something that I will enjoy. I also like the thought of not buying any more disposable razors ever again.......
Sorry for the long introduction, on to my first question:
Where do I start? Do I just buy a quality ready to shave razor and give it a try?

Ha ha, but I will dislike UT no matter what! I have enjoyed the fall from the ranks for the horns. In the mean time.....Roll tide lol
I will take a look at that information now, thanks for the advice. I did notice that razors do seem to be in short supply these days! As for the for sale forum, are posts taken down after they sell or do I just have to ask if the blade is still available? I was just admiring a yellow Dovo for sale.

Oh!!! "Roll Tide", Now that hurts!!! Well, maybe not as much as what's coming!
In the classifieds, a lot, or most come with a BIN "Buy It Now" option. If you use that BIN the ad will switch to "SOLD" and shortly be moved to the archives thread linked in the classifieds.. Some won't have a BIN and you have to contact the member directly and they will supply payment info and mark the item "SOLD" . First come, first served.
If you use the contact seller link in the classifieds, it generates an email to them. Also you can come back to the regular forum, find and click on their user name and follow the link for "private message" and contact them that way also. I usually do both because the email doesn't identify your SRP user name.
If you're looking at the first DOVO in the classifieds, it looks good. I have bought from the seller and would again. It should definitely come shave ready. If not, and I doubt that, I'll help you out with a honing.
