    Default Hello from Virginia

Hey guys...I'm a total newb here. I don't know a thing about shaving with a straight razor. Someone recommended a straight razor. I'm a total rookie....any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Welcome to SRP! There is a wiki that tells you everything you need to know to help get you started. It doesn't take long to read and it will keep you from making a lot of rookie mistakes...like the stupid ones I made, lol. The most important thing is to be certain that your first razor is "shave ready". This means that it has been properly honed. If it is a new razor straight from the factory, it will have a sharp edge...but it's not good enough for you to use for your first shave. Buying your first razor from someone like Lynn at SRD (Straight Razor Designs) will ensure that your razor is shave ready...that will remove one of the variables in your journey to smooth shaves.
