Another one of these Saskatoon guys...
Another new member from Saskatoon, SK here saying hello!
My wife got me a straight razor kit for Christmas so I decided I've been a lurker long enough, time to sign up.
She's ordered me the Dovo 5/8 INOX Stainless Straight Razor Set from Classicedge.ca after I've pestered her for quite some time about getting me a straight razor. We've also ordered a scuttle, pre-shave oil, aftershave, more cream, more soap...
A little about me: I've always had sensitive, dry skin and have been extremely prone to razor rash and ingrown hairs on my neck. I've made some changes that have helped (Body Shop Maca cream with their brush, better pre-shave prep, aftershave cream, etc) but have still been using my Gillett Fusion.
I really enjoy mastering new skills, especially ones that are not common. I definitely have an obsessive personality, so this could get expensive for me...
So, for now I'm reading and watching the tutorials while I patiently wait for my Dovo to arrive!

Thanked: 60Welcome! The first few straight shaves will probably cause a fair amount of irritation. It improves with your technique. Enjoy your new razor, and make sure it's truly shave ready.

Thanked: 1263Welcome to the Forum from a fellow Canadian. Quite the learning curve to shaving with a straight so just make sure you do lots of reading around here and ask questions if you need. Also glad to hear you're going to try and make the Alberta Meet…face to face is always to the best when learning…hope to see you there

Going to a meeting is fantastic...I went to the Mid-Missouri meeting a few mos. after starting shaving w a str8 a few yrs back. It was well worth the trip. Not only did it dramatically improve my shaves, I met a lot of FANTASTIC guys. Like others have said...take it slow and easy at first, and read up while you wait on your new razor. Enjoy!

Thanked: 3228Hey and welcome to the forum. I see you are already well on the way to contracting all the known ADs that go with SR shaving, enjoy the ride.

Thanked: 603Never been there, but I loved the backup vocals by the Saskatunes, on Joni Mitchell's Ladies of the Canyon
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
