    Default NOOB from western Montana

Hi everyone. I picked up a shave ready straight razor (inexpensive razor, but professionally honed) the other day. I tried my first shave this am and realized I needed to strop it some. So tonight I stropped it and tried again. Only 1 small cut. I now remember reading somewhere you aren't supposed to go horitontally. Can't wait to try again tomorrow or Friday. I believe I need to spend some more time stropping and I need to keep my face lathered up better than I did this time.

Welcome to SRP Sounds like it's going well for you so far, stropping is probably the most important aspect in shaving with a straight so be sure and practice it.
When first starting out you'll be a little slow so there's nothing wrong with lathering only a portion of your face and relathering as you go along. Keep at it, it'll only get better.

Hi and welcome. If you haven't yet check out the starter info in the library and youtube vids are a great help for techniques as well. The stroptober thread in the stropping forum is great for stropping tips. Good luck and any questions just ask. Ed

Welcome to SRP! You definitely came to the right place to learn about SR shaving. There is a lot of great information in the library, and from the members on here. Enjoy the journey.
