    Default Hello!

Hi everyone! My interest in straight razors stems from when my friend, an avid straight shaver, convinced me to let him shave my legs (I'm a female) with a straight razor and I loved the results. I've been researching straight razors for the past 6 weeks and came across this forum in the process, which I am eternally grateful for since I was about to purchase cheap Pakistani straight off eBay. I haven't taken the plunge yet, but I'm looking into buying a sight unseen razor from the Whipped Dog, along with the strop kit and the brush and soap set.

I'm not sure if this is silly question or not, but I'm left-handed. Should I be looking for a particular type of blade, grind, etc.?

I'm happy to be here and can't wait to learn!

Welcome to SRP. I'm sure you've noted that there is a section for the ladies. While we all can give answers to your questions that section will probably have better answers to some of your concerns. Enjoy the ride that SRP provides, better than Disney whatever.

Many of us shave with both hands. Other than Japanese Kamisoris straights are two sided and work in all directions. Type of blade and grind comes down to the experience of using different razors to see which you prefer. Personally I haven't met a grind I didn't like, but that's the joy of it.

    Yakitori!

Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!

You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!

Yes, even those of the fairer sex!

You will find that 99.99% of everything about buying, using and maintaining straight razors is 'Personal Preference'!!

Here's the link to the ladies forum! I've met Nana personally and you won't find a nicer person!

    Ladies Corner

The road is long but interesting when it comes to straight razors! I think you will enjoy it! Just be sure to be patient as it has a huge learning curve!!

I once had the privilege and pleasure of shaving my son's girlfriend's legs (at her request) she said that her legs stayed smooth about twice as long as with anything else she'd used!!

Back to preferences/if your friend has a variety of different grinds and either square point or round nose ask to try them along with his brush and soap etc.

Personally I would think that a round nose would be the best!

If you could give me a PM I'll talk more about it!

    Smooth Shaving! And again, Welcome!

Hi and welcome. You should have no problems with purchases from Larry at whipped dog. By all accounts it might not be pretty but will get the results desired. I have numerous blades I picked up that don't look the best and were cheap but the are the higher end makers and they still shave great just have some pitting etc. As said the ladies corner will offer a lot more info than we can provide for you. They may be able to answer grind etc questions better as well. Good luck and hope your shaving goes well. Ed
