    Default Hello All

My name is Michael, I live in the Portland, OR area. Recent Portland State University graduate. Currently just working in a kitchen while I prepare to move on to grad school. I'm generally more of an observer than a participant in forums, so this will be pretty short. I switched to using a Parker Shavette with Shark blades around thanksgiving. I've been reading up on the beginners tips and articles here on SRP and thought it was time to actually create an account here. So, greetings!

Hey Cyn. Greetings and best wishes for some fun here. Should you find some face to face - or more properly blade to stone and blade to face time would be helpful - perhaps pm me. I'm about 28mi NW of you up in Columbia county. You'd be welcome to come up and try some gear, get some feedback on technique, etc. I'm more busy now than I used to be but we could probably find a time. Ask lots of questions. The help and the attitudes here are hard to beat. If I can be of help, pls. let me know.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone!

And Pinklather, I'm actually in Clackamas county and I don't drive, so either if both of us weren't busy, that'd be a bit far for me. I definitely appreciate the offer, though.

Welcome Michael. Some how I missed our first post. I try to keep abreast of Oregon joiners. I'm in Forest Grove.
I see pinklather has reached out to you. He is my mentor and the couple of sessions I've had with him have been invaluable. This forum is all about helping each other. Even though you live in Clackamas you should try to make the effort to get together with pink, a veritable encyclopedia of info. I know he would approve of what I'm going to suggest. If you and he can arrange a time, you could take the Max out to Hillsboro (end of the line) and I will be more than happy to take you out to Scapoose and back. He is about 55 minutes from me via the back roads. I've been at it since July and like any learning the curve climbs rapidly with exposure to other points of view. Let me know what you think via a PM.
