Thanked: 0Michigan Hello
Hello,
Well, as stated, I'm from Michigan.
I guess a little back ground, I got interested in wet shaving totally by accident really. Came across an old Wade and Butcher straight while going through some old things of SWMBOs late grandmother. Her uncle told me I could keep it, being a liker of all thing old, put it in my pocket and brought her home where she lived in the cabinet sort of forgotten for a time. Fast forward a year or so. New job, requiring being clean shaved. Hence the need to shave much more often. Went to do the shopping for SWMBO one day and needed M3 blades, only to find them locked up like the crown jewels????? (dont do much shopping). And to my surprise, they wanted just as much.
Got to thinking and remembered the old straight. While it wasn't anywhere near in good enough condition to shave with, i went hunting the web for a whole kit. Bad move. Didn't find this forum till after a purchase was made and got burnt. The blade I got felt like using an old rusty lawn mower blade. Tried stropping, helped a little, went dull after a pass or two, bought a hone, made it about 4. Thought I was the issue, turns out its just not a quality blade. After spending a little time here reading, I've discovered you get what you pay for. (I know, DUHH right).
So, as I wait for funds to get a good blade, I'm using SWMBOs Christmas gift, a DE to get by. The old timer will get sent out also, as funds allow, to see it can be brought back from the brink.
So there's my story. Love the site.

I think everybody has been snubbed at some point by a Shiny New "Dull" cheap steel straight razor. Take care of the W&B straight and you'll never need another.

Hi and welcome. So many of us start with a dud. A wade and butcher is no dud though. Post some pics and we will be able to give better advise on what's needed to revive it. Have a good read through the library and you will find all the starter info and all about the basics. Any questions feel free to ask. Ed
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
