Thanked: 0Hello From Wisconsin
Hello Everyone,
I became interested in straight razor shaving just in the past couple of weeks. I first started out interested in woodworking (making my own fishing lures) and soon discovered straight razor shaving while looking into stropping for my carving knife. I have been doing a lot of research on straight razor shaving ever since and I came across Lynn's youtube videos and consequently found my way to SRP and SRD. I have not purchased any shaving supplies yet mainly because Dovo's are sold out everywhere and I want to get the right stuff the first time I buy. To sum it up: I am a true "new guy" to this website and the world of straight shaving.

Hi Zack,
You got here at the right time and that may save you considerable frustration and troubles.
The Wiki has a lot of answers:

You tube demos..well.. some are totally useless because of varying factors. One by some of the well known persons can help
one. Please post your location in WI, there are a few mentors in the site who may be near by and of service. Some do phone calls. Do a little home work so you have an idea of the terminology and such. Then a PM to one of them could start the ball rolling.
Just my way of doing things.

Welcome to SRP.
A man should only look in the mirror when he shaves.

Hi and welcome. Definitely read the library and ask questions. Getting all the info possible will help you start and continue on the right path. If you can find a mentor do so as you will cut a considerable amount of time off your learning. Good luck. Ed

Thanked: 0Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. How do I go about finding a mentor? I live near Ellsworth WI (I'm there in the summer), but I go to school in Milwaukee WI (I'm here most of the time September-May). Thanks again for the help.
