Hello from Pickering Ontario
Hi, I've been a wet shaver for over 30 years and moved from my DE to a straight last December. My first razor had been electric; a Christmas gift, I remember it being more like a somewhat ineffectual facial sanding. I then tried wet shaving with single blade disposables then (oh wow) double blade cartridges. Both of these clogged on my thick facial hair and quickly became useless. I then tried a DE, a Gillette butterfly type if I remember correctly, and quickly discovered how easy it was to open the top slightly and rinse out the cut whiskers. I stuck with it for a couple decades until just last November when my kids were bugging me for a birthday gift suggestion and I had them buy me a new open comb Merkur. While browsing online stores I got the notion to try a straight and settled on a Hart Steel. It's unadorned look appealed to me and my first name is Hart so... why not? In the period before the new year I splurged and got an inexpensive Kamisori and then a NOS Jaguar pictured here:

Hi, and welcome to SRP!
I see you're an early victim of RAD. For quite a few of us, that can take months or even years to set in, so you're well ahead of the curve! Congrats on making the move to the straight, and if/when you have questions, ask away!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Yes RAD, I work in new home construction and am the same way with tools. That mindset has found a new area of tool acquisition.

Thanked: 3226Hey and welcome to the forum. Got a chuckle out of your comment on facial sanding, how true. Looks like you have good tools, enjoy yourself and stand by to acquire more ADs.
