Hello from Tennessee
Hello all.
This site has been huge source of helpful information for me since I took the plunge into wet shaving. I've been lurking here for about a year now and figured it's past time to create an account.
For the past year I've been shaving with a straight and still consider myself very much a newb at it. It's been a blast learning and I find that shaving with a straight is very calming. Still working on refining my technique, but I've managed to escape the initial learning process without scars or major blood loss.
I've collected about a dozen or so vintage straights that I've picked up at a few antique shops and some gun and knife shows. I've been reading quite a bit about straight razor restoration and would like try my hand at it sometime soon.
That's a little about me. Looking forward to joining in the fun being had here.

Welcome from TN!
I'm a bit over a year SR shaving. I had to hone my first razor to make it work. Am up to 11 now and a pile of rocks.
I bought supplies from Maggard for rescaling. I've done two re-scales. Easy enough it you're good with a hammer. Someday i might set up some buffers, but have only sanded and hand-polished so far. Hint, wrap paper onto wine cork.
I have a couple apart for rescales now, but haven't made the time to make the scales and part of that is deciding which scale material to proceed with, there are so many.
Good luck and smooth shaves.

Rockwood is that bump on 40 onto the Cumberland Plateau. Not quite ET, but well on the way!
I'm near Woodbury. which is SE of Nashville 55 or so miles. 15 miles North of Bonnaroo and somewhat South of Center Hill.

Welcome! I spent about seven years in Nashville going to school at Trevecca University and working. I live in Smoky Mountains area now and love it here.

I also live in east TN. About a half hour from North Carolina and about an hour from Virginia. I've only been SR shaving for about 2 months now but I must say I'm getting pretty good at and this is the first time in my life that I actually enjoy and look forward to shaving!!
