Thanked: 0Hello from idaho
Hey ive been reading a lot on this forum finally decided to join because I have some questions.
I have been wet shaving for about 6 months with a de and I just got a shave ready gold dollar from ebay. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what materials I need to make a homemade strop because I cant afford a legit one at the moment. Thanks

Thanked: 57Go over to Hap Tallman's Tack Shop on Overland. Have them cut you a piece of smooth latigo or harness leather 3.5 x 28". Cut a handle on one end and punch a hole in the other end for a tie. Total cost: $8. They've cut me several pieces and know what you're looking for if you explain what you want. Then, rub it down with your bare hands a few times and you'll have a great strop.
Jack, at Jack's Barber Shop, also on Overland, is an old timer who actually does straight razor shaves. Stop and ask him questions and he's happy to help.
