Thread: Hello from Lansing Michigan!

I am a DE user that is interested in starting straight razor shaving. Just started lurking. I remembered just last week that I had purchased a straight from an antique shop about 12 years ago. I dug it up and I am not sure if I should try to use it or just get a recommended razor from this group. But anyway, I am excited to be here an look forward to learning a bunch!

I would say go ahead and get your razor honed and give it a go. You can find someone to hone it in the classifieds here or I am not too far from Lansing, and while not a professional honer by any means, I would be willing to find a time to get together and hone it for you and answer as many questions as I can in person.

I am actually from St. Johns . I still have to save up some money to get a strope so I may take you up on the offer some time. I also have more reading to do.

I agree with the rest of the group. Just get it honed and it should be a good start.

Hi and welcome. Check out the library for all the starter info and the basics of Sr shaving. The razor looks like it is in good condition and with a hone should be good to go. Good luck. Ed
