    Default Hello from Florida

Hey everyone!! Ive been interested in straight razor shaving for some time now, probably around 3 years. I picked up a cheap shavette style straight from a local cosmetology store but sliced myself up pretty good having no clue what I was doing. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and the itch hit him me again. I dug out that shavette and started researching how to actually do things. I found this site and got some useful maxims from it. I never put it to my face but I shaved my arm with it every few days to get in the practice (I have a full sleeve tattoo so I keep my arms clean shaven). Once I wasn't cutting my arm I figured it was time to jump into the big leagues. My Dovo Bergischer Lowe arrived yesterday morning! I ordered the kit from SRD and picked up some pre oils and post balms from The Art of Shaving here locally. I Went through the whole process at home last night and even with as nervous as I was, I only knicked myself twice (once where my ear attaches at the lobe bc I didnt realize how long the blade was, and the other was right where the neck turns out for the jaw line). Time consuming ordeal, especially being my first time, but much more enjoyable than splashing water and doing a cartridge shave. The only thing that tripped me up was the angles and how to hold the razor with what hand with my arm bent in what fashion to shave various spots on my neck. practice practice practice.

Welcome to SRP. It sounds like you have started off with a solid plan. Stay with it and it will soon be second nature to you. Always good to have another Floridian in the fold.

    Regards - Walt
