G'day from NSW
Thanks to the contributors to this site.
I was intrigued by 'cut throat' razors a few years ago and only now realise its a real possibility.
I got a Dovo Shavette to test drive the exercise and love the challenge so far. Instead of grumbling about shaving each morning and wasting 5 minutes of my life each day I'm now impatient for my hair to grow so I can get another practise in.
So far my successful face real estate acquisitions include my cheeks and mo wtg + xtg. The neck and chin won't escape long.
I'd love to get a real straight down the track as the upkeep of the blade seems central to the SR experience

Welcome! For me. Non-shaving days are a great opportunity for practice building lather.
Keep your pivot dry!

Hi and welcome. Check out the library for heaps of info. It all comes together in time but sucks waiting. Non shave days for me are buying, cleaning and honing days. Good luck. Ed

There is lots to keep you busy in-between shaves…. check out the Wiki loads of great stuff there. Enjoy…It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness

Thanks fellas
This morning was a first acceptable shave without touching up with normal shaver. It was BBS (butchered beard style) But passable
I'm wondering if anyone has tried out WD's travel strop? I'm thinking of getting a sight unseen straight with a travel strop (I live out of a suitcase) and put a paste on one side of the strop to increase time between honings… feasible or stupid?

Cant comment on the soap but a pasted strop is the go to for many to keep a razor going for extended periods

Thanked: 60WD's poor mans strop kit is pretty compact and you get a balsa strop for at home as well. It has a great attachment too, very easy to attach to a towel rail etc. I would go that way rather than the travel strop.
It was my starter strop, it was great, I just gave it to a friend who is starting up, otherwise I would still own it. Mind you I need a travel strop now…lolIt is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness
