Haven't been doing it a long time so I figured this is the place to be to learn all I can. Want to do a giant belly flop into this info pool! Looking forward to chattin with everyone. I attached a pic of some projects I'm working on.

Sur Roche (ferin' talk for on the rocks)
'Looks like you have some fun ahead. I'd save that top chopper for last - they can be a bugger to get into shape on the stones. You'll be living in the restoration and honing forums for a while. They're fun. Something that can save you some sore fingers, weeks of time and no small amount of adult beverage - is to know that the fleabags we get on ebay, antique stores, etc - require alot of grinding *before* honing is possible. This is normally done on a coarse stone or diamond plate. The purpose is to correct years/decades of poor honing & return the spine wear surfaces and the bevel to a state of being parallel. This gets pretty subtle. "But I thought it was there" will be a repeating thought. If you've not yet reached the point of getting a clean, comfortable shave, honing a sound razor, this resto stuff is gonna be a religious experience (oh god - its driving me nuts).
You *have* found the right place for your razor nuttiness. The guys *are* great here, and have been most kind to this nut while i learned. Let me know if I can be of help.

That top chopper probably won't be restored. All the lettering on it is paper thin. I think even 4000 grit will take it off. It's too cool to wipe clean. All the others are ready for pins and honing. I do love the restoration! Got a buffing wheel, all the greaseless grits, papers and compounds. Don't like to really go all the way to like new. I really like the look of pits and patina on mirror shine. Old is cool!

Welcome to SRP! There are a few of us Michiganders around. You can put your location in with your profile info so people can see where you are from. I myself am from Jackson.
