Thanked: 1hi i am new to the site forgive me if i posted in wrong place need advice
So im wanting to get into straight razor shaving i used shavetts before so i have some what of an idea of how to shave with them but idk which to buy ive got an option to buy a dovo best quality stainless steelstraight razor with sythetic black handles or the same one with carbon steel. Idk which one to get and the stainless steel is 120 and the carbon is 150 there from my local shop called herosarmysurplus both are dovo best quality but idk which to grab

It is up to you really. SS is easier to maintain than carbon, as far as rust prevention. If you clean your razor after every use though it wont be a problem. The carbon one is easier to sharpen than the SS. As to if one gets sharper than the other. I do not believe that. I have a lot of knives and one does not seem sharper. The SS may be more durable. But again, if you are only shaving with it and maintain it well. You won't have a problem.

Surprising that the stainless steel is cheaper than the carbon.

Hi and welcome. Dovos dont come shave ready from factory so you will need honing as well. If you add more info we might be able to give you better info. Ed
