Thanked: 237Newbie in Virginia
Hello guys,
I am a 24 year young Marine Corps veteran, and I started getting interested in straight razor shaving after getting into knives first. My time in the Marines allowed me to have an appreciation for shaving at a much younger age than most. I have been honing hunting and kitchen knives for several years now on an old spyderco set up, and recently have the norton combo stones, a japanese 1k/4k combo, and a coticule. I first scoured the internet to get as much information as possible, and am proud to be the owner of a Wade and Butcher "The Celebrated". I bought my first blade off of Ebay, and was very pleased with the quality of the blade and not so much the edge. After watching Lynn's videos it was very evident my edge was not on par. So I sent Lynn a PM on here and was shocked at how fast he responded and at how helpful he was to get me in the right direction. After sending him some pictures it was very clear that my bevel was not set properly, and of course these blades are notorious for such problems. So i concluded that i was going to send it into SRD for a pro sharpening... Well today was a snow day haha, and i decided to put the metal to the stone, and have produced phenomenal results and a truly amazing shave. In conclusion I am very excited to have such an awesome experience getting into straight shaving, and look toward reaching Lynn's honing abilities!
