Thanked: 0Yes sir I absolutely do. I've been trying to get my ducks in a row so I can prepare to start shaving with a straight. I have a DublDuck Goldedge I plan on getting professionally restored/honed so I can start using it as one of my main shavers. The only thing I'm confused about is what strop to start off with and what else I need to get started.

There are a heap of threads on what strop to get, and a big factor is budget I guess, a relatively inexpensive strop is usually recommended, but you could get something a bit more expensive that has replaceable leather/fabric pieces, that way you reuse the hardware and replace the damaged bits, or if you are handy just make one, after all it is basically a smooth flat piece of leather with a method of hanging at one end and a handle at the other, unless you make or buy a paddle strop. I have never used a paddle so can't comment from experience but some say it is a bit easier to learn on a paddle.
Other than that you will need a brush, even a cheap bristle brush from your local pharmacy will do, I wouldnt get a cheap synthetic brush. And either a soap or cream. Again there are quite a few threads discussing these but you don't need to spend a lot to get a decent product. Other than that it is all wants ie pre shave products, post shave products, aftershaves, colognes, different soaps, creams etc. But all you need is a razor, a strop, a brush and some shaving soap/cream.
You may get into honing but that is a discussion for down the track.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
