Default Hello, from some where in the Great North Waste (US)

Hello every one. I have been a lover of straight edge razors since I was really young watching the barber scenes in Wild west movies to getting my first Straight edge shave from a barber less then a year ago. I'm thrilled to take this journey with you where I go from knowing next to nothing about shaving with a straight edge to someday being an expert and helping others 'get on my level'.

Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!

You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!

If you take the time to search, 99.9% of your questions can be found in the Library (WIKI) however feel free to ask us about whatever it is that you are wondering about or having a problem with. It does help if you’ve done some research before hand so it narrows the problem down a bit.

My good friend pinklather inquired about you being close to him in Portland OR. If you could expand your Profile to included your exact whereabouts that would be a big help! You never know if there might be an experienced straight razor user close to you!!

    Again! Welcome!

Why is it a secret? If someone is near to you then you might be able to meet up.

Although I'm accustomed to our openness here, I understand why new members don't always jump to fill in their location; Internet discretion is a hard habit to break.

Having just enjoyed a Chicago meetup where I learned a lot, had a troublesome new razor properly honed by an expert, and enjoyed great company, I can attest to the value of publishing my location here, even vaguely ("Chicagoland," "Upper Peninsula").

The 'Great North Waste' is a pun on 'Great Northwest' kids who's parents moved us here and don't like living in a frozen waste land 9 months out of the year. The amount of anonymity comes from growing up from the time when the internet was new and my parents drilled into me to keep my private info just that. It also doesn't help that I genuinely don't like society at large.

if some one lives near Spokane, Washington i'll -concider- meeting up somewhere.

You my friend are about an hour and a half drive from Glen (GSSIXGUN) Senior Mod and a well known Pro who can show you so much!!!!

He's in Sandpoint ID, there are several other members in Spokane, including speedster! Give them a PM!

    Enjoy the ride!

MrRoccapalumbo, I appreciate your genuine dislike of society at large, being a semi recluse by nature, I will say that I have never, in all my long years, run across a better bunch of people so happy to help out each other even if they can't see each other. It is a genuine fellowship among the SRP members. On the whole, who you are, what you believe in and what you look like is immaterial to the sharing of straight razor knowledge. This sport, hobby, addiction or what ever you want to call it is one of the most leveling of playing fields I've ever run across. I have made friends worldwide through SRP. I doubt I will ever get to see any of them in the flesh. But the openness and willingness to share knowledge, humor, joy and the occasional sorrow makes this a "safe haven" in this mad world we live in. And the best part is you only have to reveal what you want of yourself and nothing more.

All this to say, believe what cudarunner has said. Do try your best to get to see Glen (gssixgun). When you do you will reap years of experience ina few hours and be set on a correct path of straight razor shaving.
