    Default New guy

    Hello everyone.

I have recently become interested in straight razor shaving and this seems like the place to be. I made the mistake of buying a cheap razor to start with and my first try at shaving with it was poor, but that did not discourage me. I recently bought a dovo best quality from straightrazordesigns and have been very happy with it. The difference in the hone of the two razors is tremendous. I have started to get pretty comfortable with using the razor, I did not cut myself on the last two shaves. I have also purchased a set of hones to start learning with. I am going to use the cheap razor to practice with before I try anything else. I have been reading a lot here on the forums and other places trying to gather as much knowledge as possible. I just wanted to say hi and hopefully I can contribute to this site.

Welcome. It's a great place here with good people and good advice. One suggestion, please master all the steps leading up to a shave and all the shaving skills before getting into honing. Since you got your razor from SRD, you have a free re-honing coming. I just sent one I bought in June back for its first re-honing. You won't be getting any hones for the cost of postage back to SRD, so I'd suggest waiting for a while, saving the money you'd spend on hones and maybe pick up another razor so you have a workable rotation of two quality razors.

Hello there and welcome! There is a lot to learn from this forum. Good job on not cutting yourself. I didn't cut myself in the beginning. I started to cut myself after a few shaves though when I wasn't as careful anymore. So attention and respect is key.

Welcome to SRP! Sounds like you are off to blood-free start. Excellent. There's plenty to research here and just ask questions if you don't find what you're looking for.
