Webmc, I've become more of a night owl due to age, not necessity. Gotten to know a lot of SRP members from other countries because of it. I saw that gssixgun has welcomed you to the forum. He is one of the many I would recommend when you need to have a razor honed to perfection. He is a pro, but his rates are very reasonable. He is also a very knowledgeable person when it comes to just about all aspects of straight razor shaving. He lives in the north part of Idaho. Check out his web site www.gemstarcreations.com. Once you get a goodly number of shaves behind you start looking at the info on refreshing your edges. You can go about a year or more between a full honing if you learn the right way to refresh an edge. I recently started doing it. Isn't difficult but a lot of patience is required.

Thanks guys, the link to his website would not work for me. Gssixgun do you also do restoration work? To start my razor collection I bought 2 vintage razors off of eBay. Would you be willing to work on them ? I imagine it gets pretty cold in Idaho, this winter was the worst by far, we had windchills to about -75. A nice hot shave is always a great thing in the winter.

I'm sorry, I gave you the wrong wording for his website. Try Welcome GemStar Customs - Gem Star Customs. Yes, he does a wide range of razor work, from honing to restorations. Send him an email with photos first of the razors. Make sure you show both sides and as much close ups of the problem areas as you can so he can give you an educated guess as to cost.
