Thanked: 0Greetings from Trenton, Ga
Hello to all. After getting tired of all the new-fangled razors and the price for their refills, I returned to using a DE safety razor a while back. I'm old enough that I learned to shave with one of them. Researching what was available got me interested in shaving with a straight razor. I ended up getting a nice old Wade & Butcher off of ebay and shaved with it for the first time Friday night. I started out a bit nervous, but it ended up being an enjoyable experience, as far as shaving goes. I managed to nick myself twice, but both places are trouble spots, I can nick them with anything but an electric. I got just a bit of irritation, but I'm pretty sure that comes from lack of technique, and I can get irritation from any razor. I think I'll experiment with some different soaps and I'm looking forward to keeping this up.

Welcome to SRP, sounds like you're off to a good start. Ask any questions you have as the gentlemen here are always willing to help.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Hi and welcome. Irritation is probably either angle or pressure. Pressure is just enough to wipe the lather off. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 0Thanks for the input. Believe it or not, due to my experience with a DE, I think my irritation problem may be soap. I've always used shaving soap, never been into creams or gels from cans. And for all these years, I've used Williams mug soap. After joining this forum, I see that many people say that Williams may not be good for sensitive skin, which I have. By using modern razors all of these years, I've never had to leave soap on my face for long. When I did my first SRS, I had to soap my face several times because I was going VERY slowly about it. I've ordered some Crabtree & Evelyn shaving soap and and interested in seeing how that works. Again, due to my experience with DE razors, I keep the pressure low. I know there's going to be a learning curve here. I understand that and appreciate all advice. Thanks.
