Thanked: 0Noob from Toronto
Hi there all,
Been a wet shaver with a cartridge for many years with a recent switch to using DE.
Then I had my first straight shave (done with a shavette), by a barber on the weekend. The next day while perusing an antique market, I just found myself picking up a Boker that looked to be in decent shape.
So I guess the rest will be history. Time to clean and hone the blade and then I'll be off to try my first shave....

Thanked: 4826Welcome. If you are serious about getting into straight razor shaving, you should send that razor out for a honing. It seems pretty simple and straight forward but is actually a title tricky. At first you should concentrate on learning to shave, let the honing lessons come later. If you look around there are a lot of threads from people learning to hone and experienced honers having trouble. The other option is to buy a shave ready straight, that can come from many sources. There is Classic Edge, which isn't far from you, there is the classifieds section here, as well as many other vendors that you can find in the vendor section. When wondering about a vendor or razor you can always use the search engine. Good luck

Thanked: 0Thanks all.
Still in the decision phase about getting the razor shave ready. I want to keep the acquisition disorder in check, so I'd get the one I have honed before getting a new one right now....
