Hello from Lewiston, Idaho
Hi everyone! I just got back into DE shaving and everything is going great! I actually enjoy shaving now that I have things mostly figured out. I am now attempting to shave with a straight razor. I have a 5/8's Art of Shaving straight razor that my brother in law got me for Christmas. I sent it off to have it honed by a professional. I can get a couple passes and it seems as though the razor becomes dull and really begins to struggle to cut my beard. Especially near my jaw line where my beard gets thicker. My razor gets to the point where it seems to bounce over my facial hair. I have thick facial hair that grows out of my face like a scotch bright pad so a sharpened axe might work best (just kidding). I am not ready to give up just yet and I am even considering buying another straight razor to see if mine is a "lemon." I have been reading this forum for quite some time and decided I had better join. Thanks everyone.

If the blade is truley shave ready, keep at the basics.
Is a fella In Idaho who is one of the top Honestas in the land, might have the blade checked out.

I looked at the Art of Shaving and noticed that their razors are made by Dovo. I guess I should give my razor more credit. I guess I'm already looking for an excuse to buy another razor. It has already started....

Welcome From Walla Walla WA!! I was born in Pomeroy, raised in Dayton and used to terrorize Lewiston in my youth! I love Fazzari's Pizza in Clarkston!
You can't go wrong with Glen (GSSIXGUN)!! He's up in Sandpoint! I highly recommend him! His Prices are Very Reasonable and his Counsel is truly Priceless!

Thank you Cudarunner. I will probably be sending my razor to Glen as he is so highly recommended. You wouldn't happen to know any Boettchers from the Pomeroy, Dayton area. Just checking to see if it is still such a small world Ha ha!
