Thanked: 0Hello from Northeast Georgia
Well I just purchased my first straight razor and I am looking forward to using it. All my items should be coming in this week and let the learning begin.
The razor I got a Joseph Elliot, it has the Elliot on the side, I got pictures in "The Untouchables" club section. If anyone knows anything about these blades I am a history buff.
I did get a strop and then a honing stone, natural purple welsh with slurry stone called Llyn Melynllyn,
As far as soaps I am looking at getting different types and see which I like the best.

Thanked: 4826Welcome. In theory you shouldn't need the hone for a while. It is an easy one to use, unless it is very small and then things can get tricky. I presume that you bought your razor shave ready. There is a lot of little things to learn. Some slip into it easier than others. If you need anything just ask.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 0Thanks guys! Yes I did buy the razor shave ready, I did a lot of research and have been reading things for a while now. So once I decided to take the plunge I went with a good starter set. Looking forward to my first attempt, either I will succeed or I did buy a suture kit in case with way I am ready! :-)
