Thanked: 8Hi from Southern Ontario (KW)
HI ALL!
New to this forum and want to make the obligatory opening post.
I've been using a Parker SR1 on-and-off (with mixed results) for months and have been flirting with getting a proper straight.
I fall back on my DE when I don't spend the time with the SR1.
The main things I'm looking to do is eliminate the razor burn from the SR1.
I'll have a follow up post in a more applicable location but I'll tease it here... I cannot find anywhere locally (in Ontario) to get a razor honed. Help appreciated.

Thanked: 4826Hello and welcome. As with many new skills you need to practice to be good. If you really work at it you can probably dial in the biggest part of your technique in about 100 shaves. If you dabble at it and go back and forth or only shave a couple times a month it may take a very long time, simply due to the math, muscle memory and the like. If you are happy with what you are doing keep at it. As far as getting razors honed in Ontario there is Classic Edge that does nice work and I'm sure all the Ontario guys have other spots or do their own. They will chime in I'm sure.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Welcome to SRP. There are a few of us here in southern Ontario that hone our own stuff and we do get together once or twice a year. Keep a eye open for our next GTA meet and im sure we can get that razor honed up for you.

Thanked: 8Sweet. The misses has, however, informed me that I need to stick w the SR1 for a little longer.
Ah well.

No worries - just think of it as time well spent working on lather, face prep, etc. When the time comes to have a straight honed, +1 to Shaun's suggestion of Classic Edge. I have not used his services before, but have heard nothing but good things.
And welcome to SRP!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
