    Default Newbie in Kentucky

    Hello everyone,

Well, after swearing I'd never use a straight razor, I finally took the plunge and have a new Dovo on the way. I've been hooked on DE shaving for awhile now, and it seems like the road leads to trying a straight razor eventually!

I have a nice mix of modern and vintage DE razors, but my big addiction is brushes. It looks like collecting straights--especially vintage--will be equally addicting!

I look forward to learning from the collective experiences of the members here. Seems like a great site.

    Shawn

Welcome to the SRP. There is a wealth of info on here ripe for the taking. Also there is a thread in get togethers section on a meet up in Richmond, KY in April. Might check it out.

Welcome to SRP! Definitely attend a local meet up if you can. It really helps with the wet shaving learning curve. Good luck!

Hello From South Eastern Washington State!

Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!

You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!

'Most' straight razors do not come 'Truly Shave Ready'! Straight Razor Design is the only site that I'm aware of that does professionally hone each and every razor!

If your razor is coming with a 'Factory Edge' you will not have the results that you would like!

I'm not trying to discourage you! Quite the Opposite! I want you to succeed! There are several members who offer quality honing here at SRP. While I do 99.9% of my own honing plus some for others I do have a favorite Pro. PM me if you would like my recommendation!

If your razor is actually ready to Rock and Roll please follow the counsel and just start on the sideburns to jaw until you are comfortable, then slowly start trying the rest of your face. Under your nose is 'challenging' to say the least! The chin......well lets just say that at least for me it was the last area that I managed to semi master!

It's a long strange trip but well worth the journey! Enjoy it! Have patience as this Ancient Art has a Huge Learning Curve!

    Again, Welcome!!!

Welcome to SRP! I have a thing for KY even though my time was limited to Ft. Knox with limited access to the surrounding area. I love the terrain of the countryside.

What's not to love? Patton Museum. Awesome view of the Gold Vault. Radcliff...whatever that is worth...

My mother grew up in Muldraugh--town next to the base. Family still down in Brandenburg and Jefferson county.
