    Default Hello from Frisco, TX

I have been straight razor shaving for a week now. Made the progress from disposable to DE last year, and now following the usual steps toward a more enjoyable morning. I have always enjoyed well-made tools for any job in front of me, whether woodworking, auto work, gardening, or whatever. It was inevitable that I would finally get around to the tools I use on my face every morning. Took me a long time to get here, but really enjoying the ride! Looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Howdy! Welcome to the forums and to straight razor shaving. Tell us a bit about what you're working with now. What shaving cream/soap, what razor, what's your prep like now?

Welcome to SRP! Sounds like you may have a new hobby. Watch out for those ADs as you journey down this road.

Well let's see... My favorites are either my homemade soap (4 batches thus far) or Stirling and a boar brush. Badger seems too soft and I like to bowl lather. I prefer Astra blades, I'm using an inexpensive Parker SR1 until I can save up for a Dovo or TI and a strop. To finish I like Polo Red balm, or Bay Rum, and can't wait to try the Speick Aftershave that just arrived today. I also put on a scent-free cream with SPF 15 or 20.

I'm just a little way away from you (about two hours), you are welcome to come by on a thursday or friday for a little one on one. Would be a good way to build a proper foundation to begin your journey on...

Thanks for the generous offer. I occasionally make it up your way, and I might try to stop by. So far, I'm about 8 days into SR shaving and I am not sure my DE razor will see any more use from me. Except for air travel, of course.
