Hello from Frisco, TX
I have been straight razor shaving for a week now. Made the progress from disposable to DE last year, and now following the usual steps toward a more enjoyable morning. I have always enjoyed well-made tools for any job in front of me, whether woodworking, auto work, gardening, or whatever. It was inevitable that I would finally get around to the tools I use on my face every morning. Took me a long time to get here, but really enjoying the ride! Looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Thanked: 5Howdy! Welcome to the forums and to straight razor shaving. Tell us a bit about what you're working with now. What shaving cream/soap, what razor, what's your prep like now?

Welcome to SRP! Sounds like you may have a new hobby. Watch out for those ADs as you journey down this road.

Well let's see... My favorites are either my homemade soap (4 batches thus far) or Stirling and a boar brush. Badger seems too soft and I like to bowl lather. I prefer Astra blades, I'm using an inexpensive Parker SR1 until I can save up for a Dovo or TI and a strop. To finish I like Polo Red balm, or Bay Rum, and can't wait to try the Speick Aftershave that just arrived today. I also put on a scent-free cream with SPF 15 or 20.
