Have you shaved with the razor after it was honed?
Was it stropped by the honer then oiled after honing and stropping?
Did you strop it before you shaved with it?
How did you prep your face and beard before you shaved?
As you can see there are many variables that will affect your shave!
In answer to your question:
'IF' the razor was 'properly' honed and 'IF' the honed razor was 'Properly' stropped and 'If' you didn't alter the edge that was properly honed and stropped, and 'IF' you didn't use too high of an angle so that you were 'Scraping' your whiskers instead of 'Shaving' them then the razor should have given you a very nice shave!
I've done some testing and haven't re-stropped for 3 days of constant use of the same razor and gotten decent shaves!
I can't say it enough! And that is that this Art has a Huge Learning Curve and that it takes Patience!
Hang in there, give it another go and be very careful how you strop, prep and the angles!
If you still can't get a decent shave, PM me!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 1Will do Cudarunner
And yes he stropped and honed it and it went really well the first and second shave just the one last night that bit me.
Also I am drying it and putting a tiny bit of oil on but there are already a couple marks on it like rust but not just discoloration must be my fault some how but can seem to think of how i keep the razor in my room to which is very dry
Will take some pictures when I get home and after the next shave give you a pm so you can have a look and get some advice from ya
Thanks Heaps!!--Tapa--

How many laps are you doing stropping. You want to do at least 25 linen and 50 leather. If you csnt maintain an edge stropping then using paste is probably not a good idea as you may actually damage the edge instead. Are you using a x stroke while stropping. This will ensure that you are getting the entire edge. Good luck

Thanked: 1I was doing 20 linen and 30 leather with X stroke and trying to go extremely lightly while keeping the spine touching the linen and leading the edge if that makes sense. I think maybe because I screwed the edge the first time I'm scared of putting any pressure on and maybe going to lightly on my strokes?
I am having a shave tonight so will post the results afterward hopefully all goes well.--Tapa--

Definitely want more leather laps at a minimum. Try even doing 80 to 100 leather and see if that helps the edge at all.

Thanked: 1You guys are awesome best shave so far!!!! Only one cut!! Did face and neck with the grain and the one cut was trying to go across the grain which I then gave up and used my old Gillette fusion for and the against grain pass. I think my stropping is getting better now to felt like the blade was much sharper than before. See how it goes the next few but so far so good.

Thanked: 1Also my blade already has a couple spots on it noticed them tonight but I don't see how they got there when I dry it with a towel and toilet paper after each use the keep it mid shelf on my bedroom cabinet. Is there anyway to polish the blades occasionally to get rid of any spots or possible rust or pitting?

Water spots or patina won't affect the blade. If worried something like autosol from the auto store will work well. Just stay away from the edge.

From memory brasso etc aren't good for the blade. There are a number of polishes that people use. A quick search should see you come up with a few available locally. Auto stores tend to have something good for the job.
