Thanked: 0Hello from Colorado
Just want to introduce myself. I have been shaving with a saftey razor for about a year and recently was given an Imperial straight razor that belonged to one of my grandfathers. Through the wonders of the internet I found gemstar sent it off and it is due back any day. I am looking forward to learning to use it and grateful this site was pointed out , what an incredible resource. I just want to thank you gentleman in advance for passing down knowledge that I would not otherwise have access to.

Wingnut, welcome to SRP. You are off to a good start by sending your razor off to a pro to be honed. Good luck and have fun.

Wingnut,
Welcome to the forum. Glad you found GemStar and have signed on to SRP!
Check out the Library linked above on the page, and don't hesitate to use the search function at the top right...great resource.
Here's a thread you should check out. It's the Denver meet and you'll find gssixgun there and many more members. You'll learn more there than months of reading and experimentation...but I'm not discouraging the R&E, it's where a lot of the enjoyment happens. http://straightrazorpalace.com/get-t...-colorado.html
Also in my sig. line you'll find a couple of good links that are helpful.
and enjoy the forum!!
Regards,

Hey there Wingnut. Welcome to Straight Razor Place. I too live in CO (Denver metro area). I've created a new SRP member's "Group" for Denver (and surrounding) locals.
Check it out here: Mile High Strop & Go - Straight Razor Place Forum
If you can make it to the 5th annual Mile-High-Madness meet and greet you should! From what I've heard, new guys wanting to hone/restore or learn anything SR related can learn more in the one day during the meet and greet than days surfing the web.
Hope you can make it!

Bravo, Wing! On several counts. Finding your way here, and espec. for having a pro give some TLC to an ancestor's blade. Since it can't be replaced, 'best to have it in good hands. You found good hands indeed.

Welcome to SRP, Wingnut! You'd do well to make your local meet-up if at all possible. It really helps you learn a lot in a short amount of time. Have fun!
