Thanked: 0Greetings from Lithuania!
Hello everyone,
My name is Nerijus and I'm from Lithuania. I have been shaving with safety razors (Gillete, Schick, GEM) for about two years now. Last Xmas my wife got me a "Bluebeards Revenge" shavette. So I was using it on and off since then. But I have to say that I'm not getting consistent results with it. Probably because I'm switching between different blades all the time. Also I'm not a fan of breaking DE blades. Not because I'm scared or anything. I just can't get a clean break and I suspect that this might give me slightly imperfect blade angle sometimes.
Long story short, I want to try a straight razor because I think that it would give me a more consistent result and be less fiddly. To be honest I was already looking at used razors in December and even got a good offer for a shave ready Swedish razor (forgot the brand). But after my wife gave me the shavette for Xmas I couldn't disrespect her gift. Now that offer is gone and I'm hunting for a cheap (I'm on a budget) shave ready razor.
So please wish me luck in razor hunt.

Welcome to SRP, Nerijus - good to have you with us. Sounds like you already have done your research, all that you need to do now is find a decent razor. Oh, and don't forget a strop. I second the suggestions above, the classifieds here or whippeddog both have user friendly entry razors.
Don't be afraid to dive into the conversation on the forums, or ask any questions that might arise.
Good luck, and have fun.

The Whipped Dog razors are right up your alley. Hopefully the postage doesn't get excessive. There are also some fine European retailers...you may want to check some of the German language sites/forums.
!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.

Hi and welcome,
Nice to have new members from the Baltic family. You have beautiful country, been there many times.
If you are looking for a vintage straight razor, then hurry check antique stores, 2nd hand shops and even vintage stuff from market square sales. I've seen many old razors dead cheap while checking such places in Estonia and Latvia. Mostly vintage Russian and German blades. Ern seems to be quite common brand with these old razors.
Regads,
Tomi

Thanked: 443Hello and welcome. We have a lot of members in Sweden; you can follow this link to see what they're up to and if any are selling stuff now. Swedish blades are supposed to be awfully nice!

Thanked: 0First of all, thanks for a warm welcome everyone.
No I haven't. Want to buy a razor first. Strop's next.
Not much of German speaker. And when you start translating via Google it gets veeery funny
I come from Panevėžys and we have a half decent flea market here. But I have never seen a straight razor on sale there. I'm looking at private commercials sites, but it's mostly seriously overpriced old unusable junk there. Even EvilBay is gives better chances than those ads.
Anyway, I'm "stalking" a very nice guy from Sweden right now an hopefully I will be able to buy a nice Swedish made razor from him.
