Thanked: 0Done lurking, want to say thanks!
I have been lurking here for almost six months now, bought by first straight just after the new year from Larry at whipped dog. This was my first attempt at wet shaving from a guy who hates shaving (had a four month beard at the time). I read many started this to save money from expensive disposables but for me i just always used a clipper because it was easier. I thought using a straight would be something fun to try and a unique experience, but i fell in love right away. My first shave went amazing, and i managed to get away with only the smallest of nicks after ignoring the just shave your cheeks first advice. Since then i have been shaving nearly every other day, and am always looking forward to my next shave. It is the one time in my week i take a few minutes to pamper myself and relax.
I since purchased a crown and sword I took a gamble on the cheap ($12) from ebay, it came in great shape and i was able to get it just as sharp as my sight unseen by just using the pasted balsa strop.
More recently i just bought a lot of 22 razors of mixed condition that i want to try my hand at restoring, as i am DIYer and love to learn new skills. It will also give me a good amount of steel to practice honing on as well.
Anyway i have learned a tremendous amount from reading the information contained in this site and i had some free time at work to register and write up a thanks.
So thanks you so very much to all the folks who contributed and helped me to finally remove the hair from my face.
(BTW the registration gave me several hiccups becasue of the anti spam filter, you can't tab to the field and it is hard to notice, and i kept thinking i was mistyping the captcha, but after about ten attempts or so i figured it out)
