Thanked: 0New guy in Florida
Hello, looking forward to learning here. Just started lurking a few days ago, obviously didn't do enough research as I have only one shave with a shavette. Then bought a kriegar(haven't tried it yet, but I doubt I will) as I don't want a bad experience just starting out. Probably give it to my wife for a letter opener
Anyways, have a good day gentlemen.

Thanked: 634Kriegers are not straight raors! Not if you are serious and love your face. Look at the certified ads on this site or ask for advice on what to buy. Straight Razor Design is a decent sight. I have A Ralf Aust and love it. Good luck.

Hi and welcome. Do a search for starter razors and you will come up with heaps of info about where to get a nice razor. Can't go wrong with the classifieds here or the site vendors. Any questions feel free to ask
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Sadly the letter opener option is probably the best one for the Kriegar. As I'm sure you have learned in hindsight, they are what we call RSOs (Razor-Shaped Objects) and you'll likely drive yourself mad if you were to try to put an edge on it and shave.
However the good news is that there are plenty of options out there for finding good blades at decent prices. This may help:
Purchasing straight razors - Straight Razor Place Library
The Classifieds here are a good option, as it Straight Razor Designs. There are others too - where are you located? That will help us suggest a vendor to check out when you're ready to get the straight.
EDIT: sorry - just noticed you did mention where you're from. I should have my coffee first before posting here.Last edited by Cangooner; 03-22-2014 at 04:02 PM.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Another Floridian here. Welcome to SRP! Too bad about the Krieger but do the diligence in terms of reading the SRP Library beginner's guide, and the forums, and you'll come up with the 'right' stuff. Ask any questions you may have. Plenty of feedback on this site.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
