Hello from the Toronto area
Hi everyone. Just purchased my first straight edge online and looking forward to learning and sharing. I started in this direction when I changed my focus from "getting it done" to something more reflective, more satifying. There's an appeal to taking the time to doing things well. I'm sure to learn a lot from you all.
Cheers!

Hi Steve, and welcome to SRP!
Where did you buy your razor? The reason I ask is that it may or may not be ready for use, depending on whether it was professionally honed before shipping.
And I think you've started for one of the main reasons that keeps many of us doing this: turning a chore into an enjoyable process and ritual.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I purchased from the Whipped Dog website. I figured that the first razor should be one that's not too expensive and one I could make my mistakes on. A Wester No.8. while used, it is supposed to be in good shape and shave ready. The feedback I saw about Whipped Dog was pretty good so I took the plunge.

Cangooner -Good to hear! No matter how much consideration and logic, it means a lot more when someone who has been down that path and is wiser in the art agrees with your decision.
Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome!Last edited by SteveTheCanuck; 03-23-2014 at 03:24 PM. Reason: additional thoughts!
