Default Good Day from Cali and Az

Hello all! My name is Zyg and I bounce back and forth between AZ and Cali. Im brand spanking new to the concept of straight razors. I mean c'mon, Ive seen them obviously but never thought about actually using one until recently. So here I am completely new to this and Id like to buy my first set. I have always learned better by doing and so I figured I would be better off buying something to start off with that would last awhile too. Im not too concerned with starting cost because Id rather start off with something that will last. I found this kit and would really like some opinions since Im so green. Please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong spot and please feel free to correct me if I have.

    Heres the kit:

Hi and welcome. The dovo razor is a good razor and the omega soap is essentially prorazo and also good. The styptic also should be good and can't comment on the rest but look to be ok. The main point would be to make sure that the razor is pro hand honed to shave ready. Check out the library for all the starter info and the other basics of Sr shaving. Any questions feel free to ask. Good luck and let us know how you go.

Im glad you chimed in. I've been checking out the SRD website and all of the DOVO kits I looked at from them seem to be out of stock. I'm calling them later today to see if they have an ETA. Im actually in Phoenix too but Im deployed at the moment. I should be back for a week in July though. The anticipation of receiving my first razor is killing me! I just hope they will ship to an APO!

I have purchased from both Royal Shave and SRD. Great service either way. For the beginner kit I would recommend going with SRD since Lynn is a great Honemeister. When you are in Cali it is great to order from Royal Shave. They are located in So Cal so you get your packages next day so that great but I dont know if they put a great edge on the blade. So thats a lil scary.

I also have the royal shave two band brush and like it. Handle is a bit light for my liking but the badger hair is great
