    Hello!
When starting out I think it best to use just one razor as each one will be a little different and you have to learn how to best handle each of them, an added degree of difficulty for someone starting out and a mistake I made. Get that one razor honed by a pro (if not done already) so you have a benchmark to judge your work honing the others.

I bought a shave ready razor from a member of B&B but unfortunately he didn't pack it very well and the tip was damaged upon arrival so I lost my benchmark, I then bought a Parker Shavette with feather blades to use so I can still practice with straight everyday while I get my hone perfected

I've been honing a W&B but the blade is warped a bit causing me issues so I honed up a nice Robeson and actually had a decent shave this morning so it does look promising

Hey and welcome to the forum. I see you are off to a good start and right into the deep end with honing right off. As you have discovered some razors have "defects", for lack of a better word, that make honing very tricky. Older razors in particular and some new ones even suffer from warps, twists, poor grinding, improper previous honing and chipping. You are into an interesting and frustrating thrill ride when honing those. Have fun.

Hi Mike, considering the size of this site we might as well be neighbours
