Thumbs up new to the forums from New Jersey

Hey guys, my name is Bryan. I am a body piercer from New Jersey. I have been shaving with a safety razor for a few years now, and have decided to take the next step to straight razor shaving. I have heard nothing but amazing things about this site and forum...so here I am. I have a love for razors and knives (anything with a blade is awesome). I can't wait to learn more and develop a new level of manliness which only straight razor shaving can provide! Happy shaving!

Thanks! I've learned so much already. I am having trouble really nailing down what types of razors to start with...they are very expensive and I don't want to go the wrong direction with my money. I am all about quality though, so I am willing to spend for good equipment. Any thoughts?

Hey Brian! Welcome! I'm new here too and I have already baught a few razors (mostly on kijiji). Although they may be expensive its important to consider that if you properly maintain your razors they can last generations. I managed to find an antique wade and butcher which aparently was manufactured in the 1800's.

Sup, Bryan! Welcome to SRP! From a fellow Jersey guy. You'll know where I am from my locale.

You're among good fellas and quite a few Jersey members, I might add.

This is great! I was wondering if anyone knows of any actual brick and mortar places for wet shave products in NJ? I usually just order everything online...but there HAS to be somewhere. The only place I know of is The Art Of Shaving in the Freehold Mall.

If one exists I have not found it and I am roughly in the same area as you. I order from straight razor designs, Portland General store, etc. What are you looking for specifically?

Nothing in particular I guess, right now I mainly use safety razors. I love them. Though I want to move up to straights sooner than later. Just so much better when you can actually hold the razors and see them in person. I hate ordering stuff online usually..though it is the "easiest" way. I would much rather have the experience of searching for the right item and holding it, then comparing it...then purchasing it. In my opinion, technology has made basically everything an informal, meaningless experience. (though that is a whole different discussion).
