    Default New addict...

What my wife is probably thinking!

Hello everyone, my name is Matt. I am an addict to the SRP drug of choice. Bought three razors last weekend while visiting family in Ogden, UT. Antique store finds include an Ontario Cutlery Magnetic Steel blade made in Geneva, NY and a Rolls Razor safety blade from England, interesting but not a straight blade. While relaxing (rephrase that to searching SRP and eBay) I bid and won a J.R. Torrey barber notch blade that didn't look too clean in the photos. Later in the week I was walking to the train stop for the commute home and bid and won a Pyramid Brand 7N blade also made in Geneva, NY.

Below you can see my three straight blades that are the beginning evidences that have been accumulated to be presented before a jury of my peers before being found guilty and sentenced to a life of pleasurable shaving. Oops, almost forgot that I also spoke with Robert Williams and ordered one of the remaining SRP customs. Don't let my wife become a member of this forum! Hones and strops, oh my! no more cash means I may be riding my bicycle to work the rest of this week waiting to be paid again...

Thanks for the array of information that has been and will be useful and enjoyable! (tried out the Torrey this past Sunday after stropping it up a bit and managed to survive with only two nicks!) By the way both the J.R. Torrey and the Pyramid ended up in excellent condition and could be used with minimal attention. Only spent about $55 for both of these razors!

I may not survive the recovery program, but I did manage to influence my brother to join the forum (thebrow) and purchase his first straight razor as well. At least we don't need to suffer in lone silence hiding our guilt. Soon I will be gladly bearing the evidence of this addiction before the peoples of this world.

Hello and welcome to the Brotherhood.

    Nice intro :-)

I don't know if I'm to congratulate you for your entry into your new hobby or offer my deepest condolences.
Either way, take solace in that you are not alone.

If you need somebody to lean on you can call me anytime night or day.

Thanks for the welcomes! I have been experimenting with the first few partial shaves and can tell a huge difference between the SR and Gillette. I like it so far. Got to get better at stropping, practice and patience. These are the only solutions to not knowing how to do something. I am liking the site and all the info.
