    Default Greetings fron NYC

After having facial hair for some 12 years, a few weeks ago I decided a change of looks was in order since I had no shaving supplies I went to a salon for a shave, they used a shavette and the experience was awesome, it reminded me of when I was a young man in Cairo and went for a straight razor shave twice a week. I walked out of the salon into the closest Art Of Shaving, I was instructed that I should start with a DE razor followed by a shavette and eventually a straight. I got my supplies and used the DE for a couple of weeks and before I knew it I was back for that straight razor. It stayed in it's box for a week till I gathered up some courage, watched some YouTube videos. The first SR shave was pretty good I did one pass on both sides of my cheeks, progressed slowly and last night I even did my neck, for the final pass I use the DE, meanwhile I have acquired a second razor from the art of shaving and the third is on it's way from SRD.

Welcome to the Bottomless Pit of Joy! I see you got off to a good start and are progressing logically. Take it slow and be sure to read the wikis associated with the beginners section of the forum. A lot of questions you didn't even know you have will be answered there. But all of the members are more than open to answering any question you may have. You will enjoy the wide variety of outlook and responses. There should be quite a few mentors in the NYC area for you to hook up with for some face to face sessions.
