Thanked: 0Here's another newbie
Howdy folks, I'm entirely new to straight razor shaving. Had my second shave this morning and successfully completed my entire face WTG without any niks and only minor irritation, thanks to the many tips and advice I've read on here and seen on YouTube. Currently my set up consists of a Magic Razor Shavette and derby blades I picked up from my local sally's. Unfortunately I don't have the money yet for a brush or soap but my canned cream seems to be okay for the moment. I eventually plan on switching to a real straight but for now I'm pleased.I look forward to learning this skill and getting to know many of you.

Farin, Welcome to SRP.
You might look into Van Der Hagen soap and brush set. They are easy on the wallet and can be found at many drug stores.

Thanked: 0Thanks! This is an amazing skill and for the money to be saved it's so worth learning. I'm really excited to get up and shave in the morning now LOL. My first attempt ended with terrible bumps at the base of my neck and about 5 razor length cuts on my face. My fiance suggested/requested I practice on her legs which actually really helped me get a feel for just the right angle.

Thanked: 0Thanks! I may sink some money into it later but right now I'm looking at the $28 whipped dog razor and poor man stop kit hopefully by the end of the month. And luckily the Walgreens down the road has a basic VDH set for 12 bucks so thats not so bad.
