    Default G'day from Melbourne

G'day all from Melbourne, started wet shaving about a month ago now with a dovo shavette, col conk bay rum soap and a men-u boar hair shaving brush.

One thing I noticed transitioning from using cartridge razors and canned goop (other than the learning curve and as such the cuts and nicks) is that I seem to get a more comfortable razor burn-free shave and my skin is much clearer.

The other thing being that my whiskers seem grow quicker and now I need a shave daily, not necessarily a bad thing considering how much I enjoy that warm lather now.

And now I am waiting for my first real straight in the mail (a dovo 5/8 half hollow with faux tortoiseshell scales).

    Cheers

G'day back to you. I too have recently started wet lather shaving although I am still using a safety razor. I am traveling right now and I will attempt a straight razor shave when I get back home in a month or so. I assume I also will have to go through the normal progression of nicks and cuts. Ha. Enjoy, and welcome to SRP.

Welcome, your in the best spot to acquire knowledge in this sport. As to your beard growing out faster that I don't understand , the shaves I get from my straights are so close , I'm tempted to go another day between shaves because it's stubble but not very much , yet I do shave because I first I love it, and second it's required , maybe the shave tote just isn't getting you that close of a shave ,, it's a learning curve , once you get to the real straight maybe this will change. Good luck. Tc

    Welcome in,
As you stated a few benefits, but there are more to enjoy!
We have a few from your neck of the woods that will hopefully chime in here a great bunch of guys all around.

But aside from that welcome, glad to have you and look forward to the banter and seeing you around the forum.

And possibly a little frustration, but she's all good mate, and you'll get there in the end.
