New Guy from Newton, Kansas
Hi, I have been a DE shaver for some time. Just received a SE from a friend. Only problem is that the SE could not cut warm butter. As an DE shaver, I have everything I need to start using the SE except to get it honed.
I live in Newton, Kansas. I am a committed Christian, Husband and Father. I dabble in Amateur Radio (KC5EAF), memory skills, collecting Kombolio, and eating. Yes, eating...I will eat anything... at least once.
What am I looking for on this site? To learn the best way to use a SE razor. To meet a few dozen great people. To have a few laughs. I don't take life to seriously and when I need to get serious there are a lot more important things to get serious about other than shaving.
See ya around the site.

Larryboy,
Welcome to Straight Razor Place.
We do not know the state of your straight razor. What shape is the blade in, and is the razor shave ready? Did your friend hone it before making a gift of it to you? Does your friend know how hone a razor? Not only that, but in many cases the straight razor will not feel as sharp as the machine-made DE blade. What compensates for the quality of the shave with the straight razor is skill and technique. We need some questions answered before making as assessment. Either way, hang in and you'll get there. Do research here, and ask questions.

Welcome Larry! You came to the right place for all the info you need. If you enjoyed all the nuances of DE shaving you are about to have a lot of fun!
Razor rich, but money poor. I should have diversified into Eschers!
