Thanked: 1Thank you all very much for the advice. I will be looking at Whipped Dog tonight when I get home and if I can convince my CFO (Wife) I will be moving forward to purchase something from them.

Welcome! You will become part of a very special fraternity.
Ditto on the Whipped Dog Sight Unseen recommends:
Remember, two razors are better than one. You MUST convince SWMO(She Who Must Be Obeyed) that you will need two razors. You WILL need at least 2. This is just in case you damage one by accident. It happens easily. Miss-Stropping(she a dirty hoe), for instance.
Enjoy the journey. Not all paths are the same, but we all have the same destination.

Thanked: 1Just want to thank everyone for the help. I will making a purchase soon. I may stick with a new razor only because I like the looks of a new razor. I tend to baby my items and I like to keep things looking new.

Welcome to the "Place".
A couple of things to consider with Whipped Dog is that the razor may be 'disposable' ie it may not have much life left in it for repeated honings.
Not a problem if you expect to "turn it into something unusable"
Secondly a razor that is not pretty may also be rusty which again may not be a problem if using a cheap strop that you don't mind embedding with rust.
For some, these things could constitute a bad experience, for others no problemo. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 1Well just to keep you all in the loop, I just made my first purchase. Due to its reputation and all around recommendations I have read on here, I went with buying from SRD.
I bought the Wet shaving kit that included:
Ralf Aust 5/8" Black Straight Razor Set
•Your Strop - 2" Black Latigo Leather
•Your Brush - Simpson Beaufort B4 Pure Badger Shaving Brush
•Your Mug - Classic Shaving Mug
•Your Soap - Frankincense
•Your Acrylic Brush Stand - Black
•Your Pinaud Styptic Pencil - 1 ounce
•Sack-Ups Protective Razor Sleeve - Yes Please
Again, thank you everyone for your input, it was much appreciated and made making this purchase that much easier.

Welcome to SRP
It's good purchase, but as long as you've stayed with srd you really couldn't make a bad one - anything you pick from their inventory is high quality. I don't find a brush stand particularly useful as I prefer the look of a brush sitting bristles up instead of hanging bristles down, but that's almost irrelevant either way - just make sure you shake the water off your brush after use. For that matter I don't have use for shaving mug either - I like to face lather and my soaps live in shallow bowls that they usually come in.
