    Wink Pretty new guy here.

Hey everyone. My name is Paul, and I've just started shaving with a straight razor. I bought one of those starter kits, and I'm thinking I needed to do a little more research. I've been looking to buy a new razor and am interested in a Dovo 6/8 Razor. It is a Blade's Grim edition, so I have some hesitation before buying it, as Blades Grim does not seem to have the best reputation. Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Edited: Also, my current razor is not really a very comfortable shave. Feels like its pulling the whiskers instead of cutting them. I am having to use my old Mach 3 under my nose, and just under my bottom lip.

I'll buy that you're a "new guy here", but how do we know that you're "pretty"?

    Sorry, I couldn't resist . . . .

    Welcome.

One of my favorites is a Dovo Best Quality 6/8. It's relatively inexpensive and a very good shaver, honed by Lynn.

Lots of choices for a first good razor. Study the "razor" section and the air should clear a bit. Also, keep an eye on the classifieds, some great razors pass through here. When in doubt, ask questions and consult the "Library" tab at the top of the page.

Sounds like your current razor could use some honing/sharpening. You can always send it out, or look for a kindred spirit with skills near you in N.C.

    Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to SRP!! As for dovo razors, I have not used one. But Lynn the founder of SRP,and SRD. sells them and I believe he wouldn't sell them if they wasn't any good!!

Hi and welcome. The grim blades are on the razors to avoid list. Go with a vendor that sells quality products. All the site vendors will have quality items. Good luck and if in doubt just ask.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
