ADD+shiny object=comulsive collection
I figured it was about time for me to make my introductions as I have been lurking here for a long time. I am not new to SR shaving, my Grandfather taught me before I even had whiskers on my face to remove. Over the years I have managed to collect 1 or 30 SR varying in sizes, shapes, points, condition and makers and along the way I have restored a few of them. I used to be a Blade Guild member making knives and such but time, money and a growing family put a stop to such silliness and so now as I approach those golden years I have started moving back into the fold, so to speak. Time and money are still in short supply with paying for college tuition's, insurance cost when children wreck a vehicle, two in one week, (thankfully, neither one was hurt) and all the little detritus that life throws at you. Recently, I have been going through my little collection checking conditions, seeing what needed to be cleaned and repaired and thanks to eBay, adding another 20 or so razors to the mix. I hope to be able to add to my knowledge base as well as being able to add some insight of my own to the collective. As to the ADD mentioned in the title, well, mix in a heaping helping of OCD'ism and you have a recipe for an ever growing collection of razors and a disgruntled wife.

Welcome to the forum, many of us lurked for awhile before we decided to jump in.
In terms of RAD and all the other addictive inclinations this hobby seems to stimulate, you've come to the right place - we understand!
Will be looking forward to some pics of the blades you've collected and your insights as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I forgot to add that my wife says that I have an old soul just because I use a vacuum coffee pot from the 1920's, that my camera collection starts in the late 1800's, I ride a 1972 BMW R75/5 motorcycle and I like to shave with ancient technology, go figure. It's not that I'm a ludit just because I like the old ways, I just think that life is to complicated as it is now. Sometimes simple just makes more sense.
Oh, and the title should have read "compulsive collection". Just my OCD kicking in.Last edited by guitstik; 06-13-2014 at 06:36 AM.
